Parasite: Live in Concert

Performed and conducted by award-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist Jung Jae-il

Renowned South Korean maestro Jung Jae-il will perform and conduct his own acclaimed score for Bong Joon Ho's Academy Award-winning masterpiece Parasite, accompanied by a live orchestra alongside a screening of the film in the Concert Hall on 24 & 25 April.

Making its Sydney debut, Parasite: Live in Concert brings the dark comedy thriller to life with a 41-piece orchestra led from the piano and five more instruments by composer Jung Jae-il. Jung’s evocative score — equal parts chamber music, baroque pastiche and minimalist unease — was a key ingredient in the cultural phenomenon named by the New York Times as the best film of the 21st century. Parasite also won the rare double of the Cannes Palme d’Or and Academy Award for Best Picture.

Jung Jae-il has rapidly risen to become one of the most celebrated and sought-after film composers of his generation. As well as Parasite, he has composed the score for Squid Game, the 2022 Palme d’Or–nominated Broker, Bong Joon Ho's 2025 sci-fi Mickey 17 and James Sweeney’s Twinless (2025).
