Legendary electronic act Basement Jaxx to bring their full live show to Australia for the first time in over 15 years
Joining the Opera House’s unmissable summer music line-up
Sydney —
Grammy Award-winning UK electronic duo Basement Jaxx will return to the Sydney Opera House on Thursday 5 March, performing their first full-scale live show in Australia in more than 15 years – a euphoric, high-energy open-air celebration on the Forecourt to mark 30 years of dance floor anthems.
After relaunching their live touring with a triumphant set at Coachella 2025, followed by a string of shows across the UK & Ireland, the electronic pioneers, made up of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe, will bring their legendary live spectacle down under. Fusing house, garage, funk, ragga, Latin, disco and pop, the duo are celebrated for their high-octane live performances and eclectic, genre-bending sound across classic party-starting hits like Red Alert, Where’s Your Head At, Romeo and more.
Basement Jaxx have always embraced a maximalist approach, combining a dizzying and ever-growing array of singers, musicians and dancers to turn any stage into a life-affirming cavorting carnival of music. As one of the most influential dance music acts of the 21st century, Basement Jaxx have collaborated with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Missy Elliott and Justin Timberlake, as well as a recent orchestral project with The Metropolitan Orchestra.
Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Music, Ben Marshall says: “We’re beyond thrilled that dance royalty Basement Jaxx will be setting the Forecourt alight with their exhilarating, full-scale, live show experience. From underground roots to chart-topping success on the legendary XL Records, their impact on modern music is impossible to overstate. The pulsing spirit and playful chaos of Basement Jaxx live in front of the Opera House sails promises to be a cathartic extravaganza and a glorious addition to our summer music program."
